Frequently asked questions
How do you reach the chalet in winter?
On foot only, along a snowy path — an 8–10 minute walk from the Chalets Pointus car park or the centre of Arc 1600. Bring footwear suited to snow and backpacks rather than wheeled suitcases: your luggage is brought up by snowmobile on arrival.
Is the snowmobile service included?
Yes: bringing your luggage (and groceries) up is included in the cleaning package, within the authorised slots — 7–9 am and 5:30–7:30 pm, outside piste opening hours. On the way down, no snowmobile is needed: everything comes down over a few ski runs, or on foot.
Can we rent both apartments at the same time?
Each apartment is rented separately: Le Haut (sleeps 6-7) and Le Bas (sleeps 8), with the heated ski room shared between them. Renting both at the same time is sometimes possible, depending on availability — do get in touch. Worth noting: there is no shared living room for 15.
Can we come without a car?
Yes — in fact we recommend it: TGV or night train to Bourg-Saint-Maurice, funicular up to Les Arcs 1600 in 7 minutes, then a 10-minute walk. Once you’re here, everything is done on foot or on skis.
What are the arrival and departure days?
During French school holidays, rentals run Sunday to Sunday — which means no Saturday traffic jams and easier train tickets. Outside French school holidays, just get in touch.
Is bed linen provided?
Yes, bed linen is provided in both apartments.
Is the chalet good for children?
Wonderfully so: safe evening sledging around the chalet, a bunk nook, a mezzanine that children adore, and nothing but the snowfield (or the pasture) for a neighbour.
Is it really ski-in ski-out?
Yes, literally. The chalet sits on the Tommelet piste: clip into your skis at the door in the morning, and ski home in the evening down the La Traversée piste. The Arc 1600 snow front is a 5-minute glide away, and skis spend the night in the heated ski room.
Where exactly is the chalet?
Less than 100 metres from the Chalets Pointus, the most recognisable hamlet in Arc 1600, on the Tommelet piste. It is the easiest landmark to give: from the Chalets Pointus the chalet is a few steps away — and the resort centre an 8-minute walk.
How do you do the shopping?
The shops of Arc 1600 are an 8-minute walk away and the supermarkets of Bourg-Saint-Maurice a 7-minute funicular ride. In winter your shopping can come up to the chalet by snowmobile with your luggage, on the morning and evening slots.
