A true traditional alpine chalet set right on the pistes — a world of its own, 8 minutes’ walk from the village.
An experience like no other
The chalet — known to regulars as “le Chalet de Mateo” — is a genuine traditional alpine chalet: stone walls, a traditional slate roof and an interior entirely lined in light wood. Fully renovated and decorated with care, it has kept all of its original charm while offering every modern comfort — underfloor heating, a wood-burning stove, fully equipped kitchens and a heated ski room.
Its setting is exceptionally rare: perched on the Tommelet piste, less than 100 metres from the famous Chalets Pointus, it feels like a world of its own… just 8 minutes’ walk from the centre of Les Arcs 1600. Here, luxury means seclusion: a place apart, made for calm and switching off, in winter and summer alike.
Two independent apartments
The chalet is made up of two independent apartments, each rented separately: Le Haut (the upper apartment), tucked under the original roof timbers with its mezzanine, and Le Bas (the garden-level apartment), renovated in 2023 with two master bedrooms. They share the heated ski room.
Ski-in ski-out, literally
Not “close to the slopes”: the chalet sits on the Tommelet piste, in Arc 1600.
- In the morning — clip into your skis at the door and head straight onto the mountain.
- In the evening — ski all the way home, down the La Traversée piste.
- The snow front — the Arc 1600 lifts are a 5-minute glide away.
- The ski room — heated and shared by both apartments: skis and boots dry on the spot.
- The ski area — Paradiski, 425 km of pistes — Les Arcs and La Plagne linked by the Vanoise Express.
Secluded — but not too secluded!
Absolute peace and quiet, yet everything is just a glide away.
- On the pistes — set right on the Tommelet piste: clip into your skis at the chalet door — the Les Arcs 1600 snow front is 5 minutes away.
- Bourg-Saint-Maurice station — a 7-minute funicular ride up to Les Arcs 1600, then a 10-minute walk: you have arrived — no car needed.
- Village centre — the bars, restaurants and shops of Les Arcs 1600 are an 8-minute walk away.
- By car — park at the foot of the Chalets Pointus (below the Tommelet drag lift), then walk 8–10 minutes up the path.
- Luggage by snowmobile — on arrival, your luggage, skis and groceries are brought up by snowmobile (7–9 am and 5:30–7:30 pm slots in winter); on the way down, everything goes down over a few ski runs, or on foot.

Immaculate chalet, a very warm and welcoming apartment for a party of 8. We spent a wonderful Christmas. The wood-burning stove is a real plus for perfect cosy evenings. Ideal for the grown-ups, with ski-in ski-out departures and returns via the “La Traversée” piste. The ski room is brilliant and very useful, and the apartment is superbly equipped. All in all, everything is easily done on foot from the resort — and it feels good to walk a little along snowy mountain paths!
A week of total escape… but you have to earn it! You reach the chalet along a snowy path or straight from the slopes. Kevin is available on Sundays to help carry your things up when you arrive — we also called on him to bring our shopping up on the Monday. The apartment is clean and very well laid out, and the bedding is comfortable. The stove makes for lovely evenings (or afternoons) by the fire, and the ski room is a real plus. Give it a try!
Magnificent chalet in the heart of Les Arcs 1600. An indescribable joy to head out and come home with your skis on! High-end amenities, a beautifully kept apartment, and the ski room is a real plus. Matthieu is responsive, welcoming and helpful. I highly recommend this place!
